Pictured below is a Serpent, recently acquired by our Founding Conductor and owner of the local V & E Simonetti Historical Tuba Collection, Vincent Simonetti. The serpent was invented somewhere around 1590 in Auxerre, France, and is the distant ancestor to the modern day tuba. This particular instrument was made by James Jordan in Liverpool, England circa 1830 and is the oldest instrument among the 325 instruments now owned in the collection.
